  9.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the accuracy of two HIV-antibody screening assays
  10.        used in Lithuanian laboratories now. METHODS: Panels of well charactered
  11.        sera were distributed to laboratories as unknows. The laboratories
  12.        performed routine tests for HIV by Peptoscreen-2 and Rec HIV1/2 3rd gen
  13.        (Abbott) and reported results to the Reference laboratory of Lithuanian
  14.        AIDS Centre. RESULTS: Of positive sera testing are presented in the
  15.        table: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. All laboratories obtained true
  16.        results of testing of negative sera samples. CONCLUSION: The
  17.        Peptoscreen-2 was less sensitive than Abbott HIV1/2 3rd gen. Results
  18.        confirm the poor suitability of Peptoscreen-2 for donor blood screening
  19.        for HIV1/2 antibodies. Both test kits have potential use in clinical
  20.        settings including testing of pools.
